Twitter.com links are now redirecting to x.com as Elon Musk moves closer to rebranding the platform after more than a year.
In a recent post on X, Musk stated, “All core functions are now on X.com.” Users visiting x.com were greeted with a message assuring them that while the URL was changing, their privacy settings and data protection remained unchanged.
After acquiring Twitter in October 2022 and transforming it into X Corp. in April 2023, the platform continued to operate under the Twitter.com domain for over a year. During this time, x.com links redirected to Twitter.com.
While today’s change marks a significant shift, remnants of Twitter can still be found. Some links, such as those leading to support pages, may still direct users to back.twitter.com. Additionally, certain email communications may still bear the twitter.com domain, indicating a gradual transition.
Users may encounter varying results when attempting to access Twitter links that have not yet transitioned to x.com, depending on their browser and login status. The Verge reported experiencing different outcomes based on these factors.
Although some technical challenges may arise during this transition period, efforts are being made to ensure a seamless shift from Twitter to X.
