The HX35AZ is powered by a Kubota D1703 diesel engine with a power rating of 24.8 hp (18.2 kW), while the HX40A and HX48AZ feature Yanmar 4TNV88C engines, delivering 37.4 hp (27.5 kW) of power.

Each model in the HX-A series boasts impressive specifications. The HX35AZ has an operating weight of 8,300 lb (3,765 kg), a dig depth of 9 feet 8 inches (2.95 m), and a bucket breakout force of 7,081 lb (3,212 kg). Meanwhile, the HX40A and HX48AZ offer even greater capabilities with operating weights of 9,479 lb (4,300 kg) and 10,912 lb (4,950 kg) respectively, along with enhanced digging depths and breakout forces.
